If vintage postage stamps are visual reminders of journeys, my unique paper art made from vintage stamps are visual reminders of journeys between friends, of stories between loved ones, of the touch points between us.
In many ways, finding the perfect gift is about attention to the details of someone’s life. If choosing the perfect gift is your art, my gift is transforming your attention and love into a wonderfully unique creation.
Precious keepsakes, these paper art creations are treasured expressions of “I want you to know that you have touched my life”.
The stamps I use are from all over the world and from all decades. These stamps make me feel part of a much bigger world and in essence this is what we are all about here. Being part of each other’s lives. Saying ‘I notice you and your uniqueness’. We are richer for it.
Each vintage postage stamp artwork is drawn by hand, assembled by hand, hand cut and finished by hand. Unique and individual just like you, no two pieces are the same.
When I was a little girl I wanted to be a Present Buyer when I grew up. Lucky me now gets to share in those ‘unfolding moments of delight’ between two people all the time. There is a whole lot of love that goes into each and every piece.
I play with the stamps until it feels just right for the person who will be receiving it. The title of each artwork has been meditated on and a clear intention set for it to bring light and joy to the receiver. Long before today I made these paper artworks as gifts for five of my closest friends. It was a way I could express the importance of their friendship by acknowledging something unique in them.
And now you can to.
At the very heart of The Stamp Collective is the definition of collective ‘a number of people of things considered as one group or whole.’ Here individual stamps are collectively reimagined into a new expression of love as paper art. In the same way, our beauty as individuals lies in our own unique collection of experiences and this is what I aim to honour and recognise with each artwork that leaves my studio.
Stamps have formed a silver thread of connection between people from all over the world since the very first adhesive stamp was released. It’s this thread of connection that makes our hearts open and the paper art created here enriches those connections between us and says
In a nutshell that’s who I am.
A creative being who thinks a lot and likes to discuss and explore new ideas.
Stamps embody my love of colour, paper, travel and connection between people. Tangled into those loves is the sheer beauty of flowers, the whole spectrum of colour found in nature, long walks, good food shared and the generous joy of people living their best life.
Retro maybe but dinner parties give me a buzz. The planning, deliberating over a menu and most importantly, setting and hosting a welcoming table that says ‘you are special thank you for joining us’. Not much beats that sound of laughter amongst friends sharing stories and themselves.
I like to do a long walk with a friend each year and eventually I will get back to Spain and walk all 800 km’s of the Camino de Santiago. In 2012 I walked the last 160 kms and it was life changing. I was reminded that dreams can come true when there is every reason for you to doubt you just have to stay the course.
Travel I love it. I get emotional at airports. A hang over perhaps of moving countries on my own when I was seventeen. Everyday my little stamps take me back to places I have visited and remind me of how much I have to look forward to.
